Drink and eat like a Mainer this Friday (October 12), starting at 5 p.m., when the Black Squirrel plays host to the Allagash Brewing Company. The Black Squirrel will turn over eight of its 57 tap lines to the following rare and hard-to-find Belgian-style brews: the Allagash Bourbon Barrel Black, aged in Jim Beam Bourbon barrels; the Allagash Hugh Malone, a Belgian-style IPA; the Allagash Smoke and Beards Collaboration with DeMolens, a tripel with lightly cherry wood smoked malt; the Allagash Fluxus 2012, a Belgian-style golden ale brewed with pink and green peppercorns; the Allagash Confluence, a dry-hopped golden ale; the Allagash Four Ale, a Belgian-style quadruple; the Allagash Curieux, a Bourbon-barrel-aged strong ale; and the Allagash White, the brewery’s original interpretation of a traditional Belgian wheat beer. These Portland, Maine-based, Belgian-inspired beers will be complemented by Chef Gene Sohn’s freshly made Maine lobster rolls and house-made lobster bisque.
